DIY Velvet Slip Dress with Scarf Tutorial

Happy Spring!

It's almost Spring and yes it's my favorite time of year! Especially Spring style! The Spring 2017 Style trends, which I will share a video soon about are all about colors and patterns and a trend that has spilled over from Winter is the slip dress! I am loving the slip dress because at first it was just seen as lingerie, but it has now evolved! You can wear a slip dress alone, with a shirt underneath or a leather jacket. Long or short, velvet or satin the slip dress can be dressed up or down. I am especially loving the crushed velvet slip dress. Ankara Everything! ~ DIY Summer Crop Top & Skirt

Hey Loves!

 I am loving #Summer2016 .... but the highs in Florida are up to 105 degrees! This weather has me wearing very little clothes (hehe) but still remaining stylish of course. I had some Ankara fabric that I had been meaning to use and decided to make a crop top and a skirt with it. I love two piece sets because you can either wear them together or separately...so it's kind of like having three outfits?! Using my DIY tutorial for an off the shoulder top I re-purposed it while making the top and just cut the fabric shorter to create a crop top. For the skirt bottom I used the same tutorial, however I did not add sleeves and I cut it longer for it to be a skirt and voila! An easy DIY Ankara off the shoulder crop top and skirt set! You can easily make this set with any fabric, Ankara is my fabric of choice because it is so vibrant and colorful and of course because I am Nigerian :-)

DIY Crochet Twist Hair Tutorial + 3 Ways to Style!

Hello!

If you are a naturalista...summertime calls for easy protective styles! With the invention of crochet braids, twists and faux locs..women are rocking these styles more than ever! I decided to give it a try and install some twists on my own. Some call them Senegalese, Mambo, Havana ..or as the package says of the hair I purchased...Jumbo Twists! This style was so easy to install! It took less than 2 hours to achieve and you can do it too with my DIY Crochet Hair Twist video! I also included 3 easy ways to style your crochet twists!

Items Needed:

- Crochet Hair. I used 8 packs hair (Natty jumbo twist) from my local beauty supply store.

I am so excited for summer and ready to rock all the trends! The biggest trending item I am seeing everywhere is the off-the-shoulder top or cold-shoulder! They are flattering on every body type and reveal just your shoulders for a flirty and sexy look. They are sold everywhere and I saw this same top at Zara for $50! Being the bargainista that I am...I did not buy it Lol...however I wanted it so bad! It looked easy enough to make so I did! I made it for less than $10 too! ..and so can you!

This shirt is my absolute favorite now! I have gotten so many compliments and might start selling them...so look out! Its so light and flowy with a little bit of flirtiness. I wore this top for a casual Saturday look and paired it with one of my favorite high waisted jeans, some summer flats, a cross-body and a choker. Chokers are also finding their way back to the scene! I am a 90's kid and LOVED chokers growing up and I am so happy they are making a comeback!

Easy DIY Pencil Skirt Tutorial

Hey Dolls!

A classic pencil skirt is a staple in every woman's closet... Or two or three! Basically, I don't think you can have too many pencil skirts ...hehe :-)

This easy DIY tutorial is for a high- waisted pencil skirt with a side zipper. It can be made with an elastic band as well..I will film a tutorial later on how to do that.

Summer is here in Florida (Lol)  and I love wearing bright colors. I chose an orange Ankara fabric for my pencil skirt and styled it with a bright yellow #Melanin shirt that I LOVE!! #TeamMelanin

I finished off the look with nude heels and minimal gold jewelry. Way back in college I bought some gold earrings with Africa on them and I am so happy I found them to bring the look together. Outfit deets below!
